619 trainees of the Capacity Building Centre, PPK who have completed their training departed for Pulau Muara Besar, PMB early this morning to enrol with the Hengyi PMB Project. They will join the 308 trainees who have begun their duties early this year.
Present at the Serasa Ferry Terminal was Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Roselan bin Haji Mohammad Daud, Acting Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. Also present was Awang Haji Kamaluddin bin Haji Bungsu, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office. The trainees are among the first cohort to have graduated from PPK last December through various programmes namely Mason or Plasterer, Woodcraft, Steelcraft, Rigger, Scaffolder, Marker Fitter or Riveter, Blaster Painter, Heavy Vehicle Driver and Insulator. The trainees will be reporting for work under the Hengyi Project's main contractors. The recruitment of the trainees has contributed significantly in the reduction of unemployment in the country by point 3 percent last year. The unemployment figure in July 2017 was 6 percent and by the end of last December, the figure has dropped to 5 percent. All the local employees are provided with shared accommodations at PMB.
