The Media and Cabinet Division has a role in promoting the good image of an effective and caring Government of His Majesty the Sultan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. 

The Division is responsible to foster better understanding between the Government and various stakeholders including citizens and resident of the country, community, media agencies and government agencies through effective public communication as well as with international media agencies and other relevant media related stakeholders.

The Media and Cabinet Division oversees the implementation of the strategic plan of Department of Radio Television Brunei, the Information Department, the Government Printing Department, the Adat Istiadat Department (Royal Customs and Traditions), and the Department of Councils of State about their activities. Furthermore, the Division also:

processes media accreditation for journalist, photographers and cameramen who cover the country;
acts as the central agency of Public Relations across Government Ministries/Departments;
monitors any form of publications which are related to the country, the Government of His Majesty and the Royal Family;
processes the application for publications of books and television programmes about the country.

The Division also responsible for close co-operations and relationships with other countries through the activities under the Memorandum of Understanding in the area of Information and Broadcasting.
One of the strategic plans of this Division is to develop and optimise the emergence of New Media as a strategic platform for socialising and promoting the image of the Government and Country.
