MINISTER AT THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE AND MINISTER OF DEFENCE II
The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was appointed as the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office on 7 June 2022.
His primary role includes the Chairmanship of several Government committees such as the National Security Committee, Public Service Transformation Committee, and the Advisory Board of the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISSHB). The Honourable Pehin is also currently the Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors, Chairman of the DANA Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans Board of Trustees and Chairman of Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) Board of Directors.
Prior to his current appointment, The Honourable Pehin has previously served as the Minister of Defence II, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in and the Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs. Soon after his retirement from his 35 years of service with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), he also served as the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia. He was appointed as the 7th Commander of the RBAF on the 28th March 2003, and retired on 31 December 2009.
As a testimony of his distinguished and meritorious service and career, The Honourable Pehin was awarded with various state and overseas honours and awards. His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to bestow him with:

The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Yussof was born on 22 June 1956. He is married to Datin Hajah Kalshom binti Haji Suhaili and is blessed with five (5) children and five (5) grandchildren.
In his free time, His Honourable Pehin enjoys activities such as hiking, golf, fishing and reading.
